Nexperia (China) has announced the successful qualification of its self-developed 12-inch bipolar discrete platform, achieving small-volume mass production. This marks a significant advancement for specialty semiconductor processes in China.

Unlike a simple migration from 8-inch, the new platform features a proprietary redesign of chip structures and process integration. The key benefit: producing nearly double the chips per wafer, which sharply lowers unit costs and boosts material efficiency.
Initial technology rollouts include:
Schottky Rectifiers: Mass-produced on the 12-inch line and qualified to the AEC-Q101 automotive standard. They feature low forward voltage drop and low reverse recovery charge, ideal for DC-DC converters and LED lighting in vehicles.
ESD Protection Devices: Developed on the 12-inch platform, these offer robust protection against electrostatic discharge and surge currents for consumer electronics like smartphones.
This advancement enhances Nexperia's competitiveness in automotive and consumer power management markets.
